Northeastern Marine Science Center has launched new smartphone/tablet-accessible audio tour of East Point that is now live. There are stakes in the ground around East Point for people to use to identify their location, and the App shows them a map also. The App is available for download at https://uniguide.me, and then folks can search for marine science center to find our tour. This project was developed in collaboration with the Nahant Historical Society, Nahant SWIM, and a couple of individuals.

Nahant Thicket Wildlife Sanctuary | Update 2018

Mass Audubon is preparing to conduct restoration work at Nahant Thicket Wildlife Sanctuary.

Restoration efforts will focus on three major goals:

  1. managing vegetation to enhance wildlife habitat and the visual appeal of the outer boundaries of the thicket;
  2. addressing hydrological constraints that may contribute to localized flooding; and
  3. improving the visitor experience through improved parking, signage, and trails. For more information please read our restoration plan.

If you have any questions regarding this project please contact Amber Carr: acarr@massaudubon.org(781) 259-2198.

Coastal Camera Project

The MCCP is a joint initiative between the Massachusetts Harbormasters Association Inc. and the United States Coast Guard to better secure the waters within, and surrounding the Port of Boston. Lan-Tel Communications Inc. is the contractor implementing this regional system.

The initiative is funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency through the Port Security Grant Program (“PSGP”) and Chapter 220 of the Acts 2016 Section 6.

The PSGP plays an important role in the implementation of the National Preparedness System of being a secure and resilient nation. This effort requires the combined effort of our entire maritime community.

The primary objective is to enhance the maritime domain awareness to secure all the harbors within the Port, providing ancillary benefits to assist Harbormasters and local first responders with daily operation including but not limited to responding to: 1) Emergencies 2) Law enforcement issues 3) Natural disasters.
