Fourth of July Committee

Mission:

The Mission of the Fourth of July Committee is to plan and administer a program of proper observance of the Fourth of July. The Committee is in charge of organizing and running our July 4th traditions which consist of the following.

Horribles Parade: The parade occurs every year on July 3rd and the younger children dress up in red, white in blue or other costumes, decorate their bikes, motorized scooters, strollers, wagons etc. and march from Spring Road to Flash Road. This wonderful tradition helps kick off the July 4th Holiday.

Tortoise and the Hare Road Race: The annual Road Race on July 4th consists of a one mile and three mile race through our beautiful Town and starts at the Fire Station on Spring Road

Field Races: The annual field races on July 4th are races and games that are split up into age groups and consists of a three legged race, 50 yard dash and egg toss!

Fireworks: The annual firework show is either on July 4th or the weekend following. Fireworks are shot off from Baileys Hill and can be seen and enjoyed from many other points in Town.

Enacting Language

BYLAWS:
SECTION 4. Memorial Day and Fourth and July Committees
A. The Fourth of July Committee shall consist of twelve (12) or more members,
appointed as hereinafter provided. A chairman of each committee shall be
appointed by the members of the respective committees.
B. The Moderator of every Annual Town Meeting shall appoint four (4) or more
voters to be members of the Fourth of July Committee for a term of three (3)
years from the adjournment of the Annual Town Meeting of that year. All
vacancies shall be filled by the Moderator for the remainder of the unexpired
term, by an appointment in writing sent to the Town Clerk. The term of office
of out-going members shall expire coincidentally with the adjournment of the
Annual Town Meeting.
C. It shall be the duty of the Fourth of July Committee is to plan and administer a program for the proper observance of the
Fourth of July.

Dog Licensing Fines will be assessed after April 15th - Annual Town Election April 27, 2024 Polls open from 7am-8pm at Town Hall
