Beautification Committee

The Beautification Committee is a small group of a dozen seasonal volunteers who complement the work of the Garden Club and the Cemetery Committee to add color in the Spring and Fall. From May-October with the help of a small town fund, we care for the Veterans’ Memorial space and other town-owned plots and planters.  Volunteers think of their plots as extensions of their own gardens and fit their care to mesh with their individual lives.  Informally we think of ourselves as a ‘committee without formal meetings’.

As a Committee, we were created by a 1984 Town Meeting vote.  We are supported and assisted by Mary Lowe Administrative Assistant at Town Hall and purchase our materials from a single vendor with a specified purchase amount the Chair [co] sets each year.  Each year we try to add one new project – either adding a new space or refurbishing and adding more color to an existing plot.  The DPW with the leadership of Zach Taylor is particularly helpful during hot summer days. We always welcome new members to our Committee and thank all of you for your support and suggestions.   Come join us!
