Town of Nahant Invites Residents to Support Letter of Concern to Massport Regarding Possible Flight Path Changes

NAHANT — Town Administrator Antonio Barletta wishes to invite Nahant residents to support his letter of concern to Massport regarding potential impacts resulting from the RNAV 22L study.

The study considers changing the standard flight path to runway 22L at Boston Logan Airport, which would result in the flight path crossing over Nahant.

The letter outlines that this modification would cause a substantial increase in environmental impacts to the town, including noise pollution. In the letter, Town Administrator Barletta suggests that Massport should schedule and inform residents of test flight times so that residents have the opportunity to experience the impacts of the proposed change.

“Given Nahant’s close proximity to Boston Logan, the town already experiences a lot of noise from planes, and we believe that this proposed change will only exacerbate the issue. We invite residents to support this letter which lays out the concerns of many here in Nahant,” said Town Administrator Barletta.
