DESCRIPTION:Strap on your running shoes and join us for the HOOMPA Nickel 5 Mile Road Race. The course flows along 5 miles of coastal beauty with long stretches of mild up hills and down hills scattered throughout the coastal outline of Nahant. The full race route can be viewed below. \nThere are however a couple of hills to challenge you including the HOOMPA Hill at mile two\, a lactic acid-burning sea creature that turns most legs into jellyfish\, and then the final uphill located on Ocean Street at Mile four which truly tests your endurance. The last mile\, once you catch your breath is an ego-building body surfing downhill to the historic Nahant Life Saving Station finish line. This is truly a local classic! \nThis road race is proudly sponsored by the Nahant American Legion Post 215 & honorably dedicated to former HOOMPA Nickel Road Race Director\, Bobbie-Jo Blair. Her love for her husband Brian and son Freddie\, and the Town of Nahant was endless. Her passion for running and helping the Nahant American Legion to re-launch the HOOMPA Nickel Road Race was infectious. She brought happiness and laughter everywhere she went. She is deeply missed by her family and friends but she will be a part of our lives forever. DESCRIPTION:The Nahant Historical Society will be hosting a lecture on the renovation and revitalization of the Howe Estate\, located at 9 Little Nahant Road. Current owner and developer\, Ricky Beliveau\, has done a remarkable job in bringing life and history back into this historic property. He has graciously kept the Nahant Historical Society in the loop along the way\, through our board member and Little Nahant resident\, Susanne Macarelli. \nMr. Beliveau has offered to present a lecture showing the long and arduous adventure that went into this huge undertaking. We anticipate a larger than usual crowd for this event\, and we believe the Main Hall at Town Hall would be the best venue to accommodate the number of attendees. We respectfully request the use of the hall to bring this event to the public\, sharing the importance of preserving these old homes. \nThis lecture is open to the public and free of charge.
