DESCRIPTION:Classical music concert featuring the string quartet “Fin de Siècle”. \n\n\n\nCommunity Center\, Serenity Room on Saturday\, March 2nd @ 7pm-8:30pm. \n\n\n\nFor reservations and tickets please contact Katharina Radlberger: nahantconcert@gmail.com \n\n\n\n“1893: Looking East / Looking West“ \n\n\n\nThis concert features Nahant resident\, violinist Katharina Radlberger and her string quartet “Fin de Siècle” with two of the most beloved string quartets in the repertoire: \n\n\n\nAntonin Dvorak‘s “American” and Debussy‘s only string quartet. The remarkable fact about these two contrasting and beautiful masterworks: they are both written the same year – 1893. Dvorak wrote his  work “looking West” during his stay in North America. The great impressions of the New World such as Spiritual melodies\, Native American rhythms and even birds singing got transferred into his music\, while at the same time Debussy’s interest went “looking East” – his curiosity for the exotic asian music got expressed with impressionistic textures and unveils a “modern” sensual atmosphere. \n\n\n\nWe will introduce both works by telling fun and interesting stories about the composers and their works during this 90min concert talk.
